The National Press Foundation recognizes and encourages excellence in journalism through its awards and fellowships. Applications for NPF’s 2026 annual awards are due by 11:59 p.m. Sept. 30, 2025. Work published or broadcast in any medium between Sept. 30, 2024, and Sept. 30, 2025, is eligible. Many of the winners will be honored during NPF’s Annual Awards Dinner, March 12, 2026, at the Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C.
Awards include:
- NEW: U.S. Chamber Award for Excellence in Local Business Reporting; $10,000
- The Hinrich Foundation Award for Distinguished Reporting on Trade; $10,000
- The Benjamin C. Bradlee Editor of the Year Award; $5,000
- The Wounded Warrior Project® Award for Excellence in Coverage of Veterans; $5,000 (x2)
- The AARP Award for Excellence in Journalism on Aging; $5,000 (x2)
- The Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for Distinguished Reporting of Congress; $5,000
- The Innovative Storytelling Award; $5,000
- The Feddie Reporting Award for outstanding coverage of federal laws or regulations and their effect on local communities; $5,000
- The Clifford K. & James T. Berryman Award for Editorial Cartoons; $2,500
NPF awards are funded by generous individuals and foundations dedicated to celebrating the best in journalism. We are also grateful to our volunteer judges, who bring a wealth of journalism expertise to their deliberations.
