Simon Moya-Smith, 39, is an Oglala Lakota writer and journalist. His work appears on NBC News, Insider, Vice, Fodor’s Travel, Lonely Planet, and New York Magazine. Moya-Smith has a Master of Arts in Political Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Ethnic Studies from the University of Colorado Denver. Along with writing, Moya-Smith teaches Indigenous Studies at the University of Colorado and is a frequent guest on Sirius XM as well as NPR to discuss Indigenous topics.
