Jennifer Croswell, MD, MPH is a Medical Officer in the Healthcare Assessment Research Branch (HARB) of the Healthcare Delivery Research Program. Before joining HARB, Dr. Croswell was a Senior Program Officer at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, where she helped launch a legislatively-mandated program in evidence synthesis. She also previously served as a Medical Officer at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, where she provided scientific and technical support—particularly in the areas of cancer screening and prevention–for the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. Finally, she also formally served as Acting Director of the NIH’s Office of Medical Applications of Research, home to the former NIH Consensus Development Program, which produced evidence-based assessments of controversial medical issues to help professional organizations develop guidelines for clinical practice and developed roadmaps of critical evidence gaps for researchers to advance the field. She is the current Acting Editor-in-Chief of the PDQ Screening and Prevention Editorial Board.

Dr. Croswell received a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago and an MA in Theatre from the Ohio State University. She received her MD from the University of Illinois at Chicago and obtained training in general surgery before transitioning to an interest in preventive medicine. She then received an MPH with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
