David J. Lynch is The Washington Post’s global economics correspondent. He joined the Post in 2017 from The Financial Times, where he covered white-collar crime. Formerly a senior economics writer with Bloomberg News, he also followed the global economy for USA TODAY, where he was the founding bureau chief in both London and Beijing. He covered the wars in Kosovo and Iraq, the latter as an embedded reporter with the U.S. Marines, and was the paper’s first recipient of a Nieman fellowship at Harvard University. He has reported from more than 60 countries and is the author of “When The Luck of The Irish Ran Out.” Lynch has a master’s degree in international relations from Yale University and a B.A. in government from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Ct.

David is a winner of the 2020 Hinrich Foundation Award for Distinguished Reporting on Trade.
