Mosheh Oinounou has been selected for the National Press Foundation’s Chairman’s Citation.
Oinounou accepted the award at the NPF awards dinner Feb. 23, 2023:
At the height of the pandemic in 2020, the former CBS Evening News executive producer launched Mo News on Instagram with the mission of breaking down the news in a “conversational, understandable, and non-partisan way” to audiences’ phones. In 2022, he launched the Mo News Newsletter and the Mo News Podcast, where he provides daily analysis on current topics.
“Mosheh blends sophisticated news commentary with audience-generated insights from around the world,” said NPF Chair Amos Snead. “Mo News provides a daily newsfeed to engaged media consumers – oftentimes bringing audiences back who have turned away from news based on hyper-partisan political times.”
The Chairman’s Citation is awarded at the sole discretion of the National Press Foundation chair. It recognizes individuals whose accomplishments fall outside the traditional categories of excellence but who nevertheless have a profound impact on journalism.
Previous winners include CNN’s Sanjay Gupta, Report for America co-founders Charles Sennott and Steve Waldman, Washington Post sports columnist Sally Jenkins, and the late two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Anthony Shadid.
Oinounou will accept the award at NPF’s annual awards dinner in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 23, 2023.
