Saeed Ahmed is Vice President of News for Digital Platforms at the Associated Press, where he leads the strategy that brings AP’s journalism to audiences across digital, social and emerging platforms. Before AP, he held senior roles at BBC News, NPR and CNN.
Across every newsroom he’s worked in, Saeed has taken on an informal but defining mandate. He serves as a matchmaker for journalists of color. He spots talent early, opens paths for growth and connects emerging journalists with leaders who can shape their careers.
He also teaches at Georgetown University and brings a global lens to his work, shaped by growing up in Bangladesh and the UAE and building his career in the United States. He lives in Washington DC and spends most days thinking about the future of journalism and the people who will lead it.
Ahmed briefed National Press Foundation fellows in December 2025: AP’s Saeed Ahmed On Embracing Identity In New Media.
