The National Press Foundation has awarded journalism fellowships for two reporters to attend the Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists. Adrian Ma of NPR and Lucia Maffei of Boston Business Journal will attend the Oct. 14-16, 2024, seminars in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania’s renowned Wharton School of Business.
Ma, who majored in finance before eventually becoming a journalist, is a reporter and host for the podcast The Indicator from Planet Money. Maffei, a technology reporter, started at her hometown newspaper in Italy at the age of 19. Both award-winning journalists will gain new knowledge from the intensive lectures and hands-on workshops of the Wharton Seminars.
Each year, NPF provides funds for two journalists to attend the seminars for free. NPF has sent more than 45 journalists to the Wharton Seminars over a relationship spanning two decades. (The fellowship was not offered in 2020 or 2021 due to the pandemic.)
