Derb S. Carter, Jr. is a senior attorney for the Southern Environmental Law Center, and has worked with the center for over 30 years. Carter previously worked as an attorney for the National Wildlife Federation and the U.S. Department of the Interior. He graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in biology in 1975, and he graduated from the University of Oregon Law School in 1980. Over the years, Carter has accumulated various accolades, including the 2000 National Wetlands Award, the 2004 Governor’s Conservation Award and the 2007 Pelican Award for Lifetime Achievement.
