Two important food-related policies are under way this year. The 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee will help shape the federal government’s guidelines for food, nutrition, and health policies and programs for the next five years. The menu labeling guidelines rolling out this year require disclosure of calorie counts and other nutrition information for standard menu items at restaurants, bars, groceries and even vending machines. This Capitol Hill Issues Briefing will provide solid backgrounding for reporters on these issues from three panels of experts and veteran journalists.
Dr. Susan Mayne, director, FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition
Margo Wootan, Center for Science in the Public Interest
Helena Bottemiller Evich, Politico
Phil Galewitz, Kaiser Health News
Laura Abshire, National Restaurant Association
Jessica Fanzo, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
