For more than 35 years, the Paul Miller Washington Reporting Fellowship has introduced rising D.C. reporters to the city they’re assigned to cover. In monthly sessions, fellows learn what it takes to cover the White House, Supreme Court, Capitol, Pentagon, Justice Department and other key government institutions.
Lawmakers, analysts and the top journalists in the business will lead discussions on policy, politics and best practices in reporting designed to help fellows thrive on their demanding beats. Equally important: it is an opportunity to network with colleagues to grow personally and professionally.
Journalists from any medium and news organization are invited to apply for the 2024 fellowship. Over the course of the year, fellows participate in 10 days of intensive, forward-looking education in the capital.
All meetings will be in person at NPF’s office in Dupont Circle or elsewhere in D.C. unless developments require virtual meetings. The orientation will be Jan. 26 and the first program session will be Feb. 9. Meetings are generally 9 a.m.-5 p.m., on the second Friday of the month, with the exception of July and August (summer break). Attendance at all sessions is mandatory.
The Washington press corps is filled with Paul Miller alumni in distinguished positions at news outlets large and small. Join this impressive group.
