Biomedical ethics is a field born of scandal in the 20th Century, after such horrors as the Tuskegee syphilis study led the medical community to create medical consent forms and rules about research. In discussions with the National Press Foundation, Dr. Richard Sharp of Mayo Clinic addressed questions the field struggles with today, such as who should have genomic testing and what kind of information they should receive. In this video, he discusses how the field has changed and privacy issues raised by mobile apps that share health and location information. Audio from his full presentation is here.
