Since 2023, Tom Fahy has represented the National Weather Service Employees Organization (NWSEO) as Legislative Director before Congress and the Administration. Fahy represents the interests of all the meteorologists, hydrologists, physical scientists and technical specialists that belong to the independent federal employees’ union founded in 1976. Previously, he had lobbied on behalf of a major commercial weather forecasting company / weather radar technology and commercial satellite companies. He successfully advocated for sections of HR 353, the Weather Research and Forecasting Innovation Act of 2017 that was signed into law by President Trump in April 2017 and was re-authorized in 2020 for another five years.
