Nicole Hernandez joined The Associated Press in 2023 as a News Editor on the Digital News Audience & Engagement Team. Before AP, she served as an engagement editor and supervising editor for six years at NPR. Hernandez’s early childhood years in a cosmopolitan environment in Athens, Georgia, USA, taught her the importance of community and global connection. She chooses to practice journalism, specifically digital and engagement journalism, to make truth accessible to everyone. She and her husband live in the Washington, D.C., area with their cat and dog – who they hope one day will get along.
