Marini briefed National Press Foundation fellows in May 2022: Service Journalism on Your Beat.

Miriam Marini is a breaking news reporter for the Detroit Free Press and Outlier Media. Her work covers an expansive range of topics including crime, government, local developments and cultural happenings. Prior to joining the Free Press, Marini was a journalism student at Wayne State University. During her college career, she served as editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, The South End, and interned at multiple Detroit publications including the Detroit Metro Times, WDIV-TV 4 and Metro Parent magazine. She was also selected as a Dow Jones News Fund fellow the summer of 2019 and through that was placed to work at Newsday on Long Island. She lives in Dearborn with her family and beloved cat, Pop Pop.
