LeeAnne Cornyn spoke to NPF Future of the American Child fellows in Cleveland, Ohio May 8, 2023 on “The State-Level Challenges of Child Welfare Reform.”

LeeAnne Cornyn holds a B.A. from Miami University. After graduating from Miami, she served as a Teach For America corps member, teaching eighth grade science in Los Angeles. She earned a J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. LeeAnne began her legal career as an Assistant Attorney General within the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

In 2015, she was named Director of Children’s Initiatives for then-Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine. In 2019, Governor-Elect Mike DeWine appointed LeeAnne to serve as Ohio’s first Director of Children’s Initiatives, overseeing programming for Ohio’s children and families including maternal and child health, early childhood education, children’s social and emotional development, and foster care issues. In 2021, she became Governor Mike DeWine’s Director of Cabinet Affairs, where she served as a liaison between the Governor and his 26 state agency directors. LeeAnne was promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff in January of 2023, where she focuses on the execution of Governor DeWine’s key priorities.
