Councilman John Chapman was first elected to council in Alexandria in 2012 and is currently serving his fourth term. During his tenure, he has served on various committees that are committed to helping the citizens of Alexandria such as the City Council/School Board subcommittee and the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority Task Force. Councilman Chapman has worked to expand access to pre-k education, and has worked continuously to secure affordable housing. In addition, John is also the founder of the award-winning Manumission Tour Company, which focuses on telling the stories of African Americans in early Alexandria through tours and presentations.
