
Jessica Katzenmeyer spoke to NPF Statehouse Reporting fellows in Madison, WI, Sept. 20 about “LGBTQ+ Issues in the Statehouse.”
Jessica Katzenmeyer has a degree in Communications from UW-Milwaukee and has lived in the Milwaukee area for over 26 years. She’s a former podcast show host and stage actress. She’s a former candidate for State Assembly District 15 in 2020 and State Senate District 5 in 2022. In August 2022, she became the first trans woman to win a contested primary in Wisconsin’s history by nearly 10 points. She has made numerous guest speaking, guest panelist, and media appearances advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and she has managed campaigns. Along with being self-employed, she currently sits on the Victory Fund National Campaign Board and is a Board of Directors for Fair Wisconsin and serves for the city of West Allis Plan Commission.
