Miles briefed National Press Foundation fellows in January 2024: Why Quality Early Education Matters

Jamie Miles is the Chief of Schools (COS) for AppleTree Early Learning Public Charter School. As COS, Jamie oversees 12 schools within the AppleTree schools network and ensures that operations and academics work together to pursue excellence at each campus.  During her tenure at AppleTree, she has led the school successfully through its 15-year charter renewal and had the honor of watching four out of five eligible schools be recognized as Tier 1 schools based on their academic performance.

Jamie Miles is a passionate educator who has known since the age of five that she wanted to be a teacher and make a  difference in the lives of children.  Her experiences are diverse; she’s served as a teacher, technology specialist, school improvement specialist, leadership coach, principal, executive director, and expert on diversity, totaling 20-plus years, which gives her a unique set of skills and perspectives. Jamie’s commitment to serving others and her ability to advance the mission of organizations has impacted countless individuals, resulting in innovations aligned to the current climate and the respective needs of the community. 

Jamie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary education and a Master’s in Instructional Design and Curriculum and Instruction, with certificates in School Administration and Curriculum and Supervision. Jamie enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband and two daughters in her spare time. Jamie is a native of North Carolina but is beginning to affectionately call DC home.
