Huiyao (Henry) Wang is the founder and president of the Center for China and Globalization, the leading independent global think tank in China. Wang is also a top adviser to the Chinese government, as well as a top adviser to international organizations such as the World Bank. In addition, he is dean of the Institute of Development Studies at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. Wang has a bachelor’s degree in English and American literature from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and later continued his graduate studies at the University of Windsor, the University of Western Ontario and the University of Manchester; he obtained a master’s degree and a doctorate degree in international management. He also undertook further training at Harvard Business School and was a senior fellow at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Wang has worked as an official for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade (now Ministry of Commerce) and was involved with China’s going global initiatives. His international experience includes serving as chief trade representative for the Quebec Government Office in Hong Kong and greater China, director of Asia of SNC-Lavalin and vice president for AMEC-Agra in Canada. In addition to being the founder of the leading independent think tank in China, he has been appointed as an adjunct professor at the University of Western Ontario’s Ivey Business School and Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management. He has also been a visiting professor at several universities. Wang has published over 60 Chinese and English books and over 100 articles and papers on these subjects. He is the founding president of the China Global Talent Society and vice chairman of the China Western Returned Scholars Association. Wang is currently on the Migration Advisory Board of the International Organization for Migration, a member of Yale University Asia Development Council, a member of the advisory board of the Ivey Business School in Asia, a steering committee member of Metropolis International, a policy fellow of IZA and an advising member to the board of the Association of Executive Search Consultants in New York. Wang is a frequently invited speaker at different Chinese and international forums and is often interviewed by media outlets.
