Aleaziz first began covering immigration as a reporter for The San Francisco Chronicle in 2017. He continued covering the beat at BuzzFeed News, The Los Angeles Times, and now at The Times. He has also covered criminal justice policy and prisons. Aleaziz grew up in Oregon and went to school at the University of Oregon, where he studied journalism.
