
Ebony Walton has been a cornerstone of the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) since 2006, when she embarked on her career as a marketing assistant. Over the past 19 years, Ebony’s trajectory within the BID has been marked by significant growth and a diverse range of roles, culminating in her current position as Director of Marketing and Communications. Her journey from a marketing assistant to the helm of the department reflects her dedication and passion for the organization’s mission.
In her role as Director of Marketing and Communications, Ebony provides visionary leadership and creative oversight, ensuring that the BID’s branding, marketing, and communication strategies are both impactful and consistent. Her responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum, from tracking metrics and data to crafting compelling events and content. Ebony’s role also involves managing a million-dollar budget, developing strategic marketing campaigns, and overseeing the creation of annual publications. Ebony’s leadership extends beyond the realm of marketing and communications. She plays a pivotal role in recruitment and team development, guiding a dynamic team and collaborating with human resources to ensure the department’s growth and eSectiveness. Her commitment to mentorship and team cultivation reflects her belief in fostering talent and driving organizational success.
Additionally, Ebony is adept at public communication and stakeholder engagement, representing the BID across various media channels and events, and aligning strategies with broader organizational goals. Outside of her professional achievements, Ebony is a devoted wife, mother, and minister who resides in Maryland with her family. Originating from Miami, Florida, Ebony is a proud graduate of Howard University and former Miss Black USA. Her personal and professional life is characterized by a mission-driven approach: to be an agent of change.
