Dr. Charles Fraser Jr. is a tenured professor of surgery, perioperative care and pediatrics at the University of Texas, Dell Medical School in Austin, Texas, where he serves as director of the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease and chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin and attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Fraser completed general and cardiothoracic surgical residencies at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, as well as a pediatric cardiac surgery fellowship at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. He has contributed over 285 peer-review professional publications. Fraser and his teams have performed over 18,000 corrective operations in children and adults with congenital heart disease. Prior to joining the University of Texas, Fraser was a tenured professor of surgery and pediatrics at the Baylor College of Medicine. He served as chief of the division of congenital heart surgery and surgeon-in-chief at Texas Children’s Hospital.
