Anne Sappenfield spoke to NPF Statehouse Reporting fellows September 20, 2023 in Madison, WI about “Statehouse Data at Your Fingertips.”

Sappenfield is the Director of the Wisconsin Legislative Council, a nonpartisan legislative service agency for the Wisconsin Legislature. She holds a B.A. from Miami University and a J.D. from UW-Madison cum laude. Anne has worked for the legislative branch in Wisconsin for 29 years. Anne served as an attorney at the Legislative Council from 1994-2014, specializing in children’s law, juvenile justice, criminal justice, and education. From 2014-2019, Anne was the Chief of Staff for the State Auditor and General Counsel at the Wisconsin Legislative Audit Bureau. Anne is the Immediate Past Staff Chair of the National Conference of State Legislatures and serves as the Vice President of TEMPO Madison, an organization of approximately 230 women in executive and leadership roles.
