Palit briefed National Press Foundation fellows in July 2023: India’s Regional Rise to Power

Amitendu Palit is Senior Research Fellow and Research Lead (trade and economics) at the Institute of South Asian Studies in the National University of Singapore. A trained economist, he specializes in international trade policies, geoeconomics, regional political economy and the Indian economy. He had earlier worked for several years in India’s Ministry of Finance, Industry, and Civil Supplies. He was on Advisory Committees of India’s Planning Commission and the International Labour Organization.

He is involved with the World Economic Forum (WEF) and has been a member of the WEF’s Future Council on trade and investment. He has authored and edited several books and published extensively in peer-reviewed academic journals and sits on editorial boards of academic journals. He has been a columnist for India’s ‘Financial Express’ and has featured as an expert for the BBC, Bloomberg News, Channel News Asia, CNBC, ABC, CGTN, Doordarshan (India) and All-India Radio.
