
Todd C. Frankel is an enterprise reporter on The Washington Post’s Financial desk. He joined The Washington Post in 2014. Frankel has covered a wide range of topics, including hidden product safety risks, changes in American gun culture, tornadoes and the Ebola epidemic in West Africa. He was part of the Post team and anchored the lead story in the series that won a Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting in 2024 for coverage of the role the AR-15 rifle plays in American culture. A D.C. native, he previously worked as a reporter in St. Louis; Everett, Wash.; Charleston, W.Va.; and Henderson, Ky. His stories have been included in the anthologies “Next Wave: America’s New Generation of Great Literary Journalists” and “Best Newspaper Writing 2008-2009.” He once had an article optioned by a Hollywood movie producer but nothing ever came of it.
