Peter Whoriskey has been a staff writer for The Washington Post since 2001. He has reported on the pharmaceutical industry, private equity investments, the Pandora Papers, nursing homes and environmental issues. His series on the role of pharmaceutical companies influencing drug research, “Biased Research, Big Profits,” won a George Polk Award in 2013. Previously, he worked at the Miami Herald, where he contributed to the paper’s coverage of Hurricane Andrew, writing stories that led to an overhaul of the federal construction standards for mobile homes. The Herald’s hurricane coverage was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for public service.

Whoriskey won the National Press Foundation’s first “Feddie” Award in 2010 for stories describing the consequences of federal policy on local business and economic life.
