Broadcast journalist Judy Woodruff is the anchor and managing editor of the PBS NewsHour. She has covered politics and other news for more than four decades at NBC, CNN and PBS.

At PBS from 1983 to 1993, she was the chief Washington correspondent for the MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour. From 1984 – 1990, she also anchored PBS’ award-winning documentary series, “Frontline with Judy Woodruff.” Moving to CNN in 1993, she served as anchor and senior correspondent for 12 years; among other duties, she anchored the weekday program “Inside Politics.” She returned to the NewsHour in 2007, and in 2013, she and the late Gwen Ifill were named the first two women to co-anchor a national news broadcast. After Ifill’s death, Woodruff was named sole anchor.

Albert R. Hunt was a Bloomberg Opinion columnist covering politics and policy. He previously was the executive editor of Bloomberg News and host of “Political Capital with Al Hunt” on Bloomberg Television. Hunt worked four decades at the Wall Street Journal, where he was a reporter, bureau chief and executive Washington editor. He wrote a weekly column titled “Politics & People.” Hunt also directed the Journals polling, was president of the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund and a board member of the Ottaway community newspapers.

NPF judges took the rare step of honoring two journalists. Their citation: “Judy Woodruff and Albert R. Hunt are true partners in journalism and life. Their contributions to journalism personify lifetime achievement. Both have had distinguished careers across different media. Both have been generous mentors to an army of journalism heavyweights. Both have fostered informed and civilized public discussion of issues of critical importance to our nation.”
