Jonathan Allen is a political reporter with Congressional Quarterly, where he started his Washington journalism career in 2000. In two stints at CQ, he has covered House and Senate leadership, the budget and appropriations, national political conventions, and the 2008 presidential election for the online, daily and weekly publications. He was The Hill newspaper's Senate reporter from the fall of 2005 through the fall of 2006. Jonathan is a frequent guest political analyst on national television and radio programs, including Hardball with Chris Matthews and On the Record with Greta Van Susteren. In 2008, he won the National Press Club's Sandy Hume Memorial Award for excellence in political journalism, which is awarded annually to a reporter who is 34 years old or younger. Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Maryland and lives in Washington with his wife, Stephanie Allen.
