
Jodie Fleischer currently serves as Managing Editor of Investigative Content and Collaborations for Cox Media Group. She builds and manages large-scale investigative projects for reporters at eight local television stations to work on together, while seeking out non-profit and print media partners to collaborate and elevate distribution of the work. Jodie specializes in harnessing the power of local storytelling to expose larger issues impacting communities nationwide, with a focus on generating results. She spent more than a year investigating the Social Security Administration’s clawbacks of overpayments from elderly, poor and disabled Americans and managed the project for CMG, including writing and production of “Social Security’s Secret.”
Prior to her current role, Jodie worked as an on-air investigative reporter for WRC-TV in Washington, D.C. and WSB-TV in Atlanta. She also reported for television stations in Florida and South Carolina.
Jodie has earned several of journalism’s top honors including a duPont-Columbia Award, a Goldsmith Special Citation, an IRE Award, numerous Emmy and Murrow awards, and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for Public Service. In 2015, she was recognized by the FBI director for her investigation of sovereign citizens that led to a dozen arrests and a change in Georgia law. Her reporting on deadly police shootings in Georgia also led to a state law change to limit special treatment for officers. Jodie exposed fraudulent activity which prompted the closure of a drug rehab facility run by the Church of Scientology, and her local government corruption investigations have led to numerous indictments and resignations.
She has proudly served as a member of the Board of Directors for Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) for the past 6 years.
