Ed Henry is a Washington, D.C.-based correspondent for CNN covering Capitol Hill. Henry joined CNN in April 2004 after having been senior editor and a columnist for Roll Call for the past eight years. Henry reported breaking news from the campaign trail for CNN's “America Votes 2004,” the network's coverage of the presidential race. During the final days of Terri Schiavo's life in March 2005, Henry earned an exclusive and widely-cited interview with Florida Gov. Jeb Bush about the governor's inability to intervene in the case. Henry started his career as an investigative reporter, working with columnist Jack Anderson for five years. He has a bachelor's degree in English from Siena College in Loudonville, NY. In awarding Henry the Dirksen Broadcast citation, our judges said, "Ed submitted five clips that took the story out of the committee room and into the living room. When reporting about Senator Frist's support of stem cell research, he studied the Senator's motivations not only from a political standpoint, but also as a scientist. It was a great piece of journalism that may have given us our first glimpse of Frist as his own man running for President."
