Bryan Bender joined the Boston Globe Washington Bureau in 2003. He reports on national security and foreign affairs. He has covered US military operations in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Latin America and writes about terrorism, the international arms trade and government secrecy.
Bender is the author of You Are Not Forgotten: The Story of a Lost World War II Pilot and a Twenty First Century Soldier’s Mission to Bring Him Home, published by Doubleday in 2013. He is currently president of the Military Reporters and Editors Association.
As part of the Globe’s Broken City series, Bender investigated Washington’s so-called “think tank industrial complex.” He detailed the role of policy research institutions in Washington gridlock, with an increasingly partisan bent and often hidden corporate influence.
