The National Press Foundation has awarded journalism fellowships for two reporters to attend the Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists. Shannon Najmabadi of The Washington Post and Jorja Siemons of Bloomberg Tax will attend the Oct. 20-22, 2025, seminars in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania’s renowned Wharton School of Business.
Najmabadi is a business reporter who reports on breaking news, from tariffs to IRS staffing cuts, who has also worked for news outlets in Texas, Colorado and Missouri. Siemons is a financial accounting reporter, writing both dailies and investigative pieces on how businesses disclose their cash, costs, and corporate risks to investors and the SEC. Both reporters said they strive to make economic issues easier for audiences to understand.
At the Wharton Seminars, the journalists will gain knowledge from the intensive lectures and hands-on workshops. Each year, NPF provides funds for two journalists to attend the seminars for free. NPF has sent more than 45 journalists to the Wharton Seminars over a relationship spanning two decades, including distinguished reporters such as Michelle Singletary and David Benoit.
