Heather Gillers joined the Chicago Tribune’s investigative team in 2012. She has reported on questionable conduct at several of Chicago’s nonprofit institutions, and was part of a team that investigated Chicago’s troubled municipal bond program. From 2008 to 2012, Gillers was a reporter at The Indianapolis Star, where she covered state government as well as health and criminal justice issues. She earned a B.A. from the University of Chicago in 2004 and an M.S.J. from the Medill School of Journalism in 2005. Her first job was at the Aurora (Ill.) Beacon News.
