The National Press Foundation has selected 62 journalists from around the world to participate in NPF’s 2025 Rare Disease Reporting Fellowship, Nov. 17-21.
A core theme for this year’s training is “Reimagining the Future: Communicating What’s Possible in Rare Disease Innovation.” Twenty of the journalists will receive a $2,000 grant to cover travel expenses and time in executing a rare disease reporting project of their choosing.
All accepted journalism fellows will participate in a week of on-the-record briefings and Q&A sessions with top medical experts. Journalists will also hear from patients, caregivers, advocates and veteran health journalists in the field. These sessions will help journalists cover the innovation as well as the challenges in rare disease diagnoses and treatment.
