
Kelley L. Carter is the Senior Entertainment Reporter for ESPN’s Andscape and an ABC News entertainment contributor who is regularly featured on Good Morning America, ABC’s Nightline and GMA3. Her expertise is in making pop culture palatable for a mainstream audience. Carter led coverage of the 97th Annual Academy Awards across all platforms for ABC News, including Good Morning America, Good Morning America 3, Nightline, ABC News Live and a primetime special hosted by GMA anchor Robin Roberts.
Carter’s career began at the Detroit Free Press, where she worked as a music critic, a multimedia entertainment reporter and an entertainment columnist for nearly nine years. While in Detroit, Carter developed and executed music, nightlife and pop culture stories and online multimedia packages and wrote a weekly talk-of-the-town column designed to attract an alternative reader base for the mainstream newspaper. This is where she won a national Emmy for “40 Years of Respect” documentary, which examined the journey of Aretha Franklin’s signature hit.
Carter is a proud graduate of Michigan State University and has been an entertainment reporter and critic for more than two decades. She has interviewed and penned magazine cover stories on some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Brad Pitt. George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Tyler Perry, Taraji P. Henson, Jamie Foxx, Usher, Kanye West, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Jada Pinkett Smith, Samuel L. Jackson, Denzel Washington, Drew Barrymore, Mark Wahlberg, Katie Holmes, Ben Stiller, Bradley Cooper, Courteney Cox, Angela Bassett, Jennifer Aniston, Ryan Reynolds, Sandra Bullock, Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr. and many more.
