Krissy Clark is a narrative and investigative audio and print journalist. She produces, reports and edits. She’s interested in the intersection of how public policy and economic forces shape the lives of everyday people.

Clark is the co-creator of Marketplace’s award-winning narrative documentary podcast “The Uncertain Hour,” where she served as Host and Senior Correspondent, digging into forgotten history, obscure policies and human stories to help make sense of America’s weird, complicated, often unequal economy. The Uncertain Hour’s most recent season was named one of the Best Podcasts of 2023 by Vogue magazine

Clark has reported for “99% Invisible,” Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting, Slate, Freakonomics, NPR, the BBC and High Country News. Her investigations into welfare have been featured on “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” and sparked policy reform efforts at the federal and state level. Her reporting has been written about in outlets including the Washington Post, The Guardian, and The Financial Times and New York Magazine. She has guest lectured at the USC Annenberg School of Journalism, the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies and City College in New York.

Clark has produced audio tours for StoryCorps, and her location-based storytelling projects have been exhibited at the New Museum’s Ideas City Festival.

Clark is the winner of a Headliner award and two Gracie awards. She has been nominated for a Peabody award, a James Beard award for food journalism, and a finalist for two Loeb awards, a Livingston Award, an IRE award, and a Third Coast International Audio Festival award, among other recognitions.

Clark grew up in northern California. She has a B.A. with Honors in the Humanities from Yale University where she graduated cum laude. She spent a year as a Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University.
