Kayne briefed National Press Foundation fellows in January 2023: An Historic “Yes” Vote for Early Child Care

Sharon Kayne joined New Mexico Voices for Children as Communications Director in 2006 where she handles press relations, messaging, and the writing/editing of reports, policy briefs, fact sheets, op-eds, and blog posts. She worked previously as managing editor and featured columnist for the Albuquerque-based alternative paper Crosswinds Weekly and was a television news producer at KOAT TV, the ABC affiliate in New Mexico. Prior to that, she contributed as a freelance writer to many of Albuquerque’s newspapers and periodicals and her scripts and lyrics have been performed on local stages. Her opinion pieces have appeared in the Huffington Post and Daily Kos, she has won awards from the National Federation of Press Women, New Mexico Press Women, and the New Mexico Music Industry Association, and is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) as a lyricist. She has a BA from Arizona State University.
