Matt Hartwig has spent more than 20 years in public relations and public affairs, currently serving as senior advisor for CGCN Group. He formerly served as senior director of media relations for Emergent BioSolutions. Prior to joining Emergent in March 2021, he worked for USAA helping manage the company’s reputation and crisis communications and helping lead public relations initiatives for high-profile cultural events such as the Super Bowl, the Army-Navy Game presented by USAA and various Memorial Day observances.

Earlier in his career, Matt worked on political campaigns at the state and federal level and for Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) on Capitol Hill before taking roles managing holistic communications efforts for the Renewable Fuels Association and BP.

A native Iowan, Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from Iowa State University.
