Emily Cochrane is a correspondent based in Washington. She has covered Congress since late 2018, focusing on the annual debate over government funding and economic legislation, ranging from emergency pandemic relief to infrastructure. She also helped with the coverage of two historic impeachments of Donald J. Trump, multiple congressional campaigns and countless bills in between. Cochrane joined The Times as an intern in June 2017. She is originally from Miami and graduated from the University of Florida.
