
Abt briefed National Press Foundation fellows in October 2021: How Forests Provide a Carbon ‘Sink’.
Dr. Abt is a Professor of Natural Resource Economics and Management in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources at NC State University and is Co-Director of the Southern Forest Resource Assessment Consortium (SOFAC), which develops models to project timber inventory, supply and prices across the southern United States. Bob’s research interests include bioenergy policy and forest management, economics of agroforestry and econometric applications in forestry.
He received his bachelors degree from Georgia Tech, a master of science degree from the University of Tennessee, and his Ph.D. from the University of CA, Berkeley.
