
Brenda Smith drives a diverse portfolio of trade enforcement, security, and facilitation matters that support U.S. economic competitiveness and protect American consumers. The Office of Trade is responsible for enforcing more than 500 U.S. trade laws and regulations and 14 trade agreements with 20 countries, which help ensure the compliance of millions of cargo shipments that flow in and out of the U.S. each year. Brenda Smith leads the operational, policy and regulatory processes for national compliance audits, the management of trade data, and priority trade issues such as Intellectual Property Rights, Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duty enforcement and Import Safety. She also leads the investigations of ADCVD evasion and forced labor and implementation of customs automation such as the Automated Commercial Environment and the Single Window.
