Eight Egyptian bloggers studied with the National Press Foundation for four days, to learn about the U.S. election system and how the U.S. press reports on elections. They were preparing to blog from here about our presidential race.
Our program took the Egyptian bloggers to election and press hubs in the nation’s capital, including the Federal Election Commission, National Public Radio, The Washington Post, Capitol Hill and the Newseum. They heard from an array of experts on topics such as campaign finance, radio coverage, the American public, polling and what can go wrong in the voting booth.
Some bloggers were already active U.S. media consumers, well-versed in the goings-on for this year’s election. Others dug deeper into the voting process and emerged with some surprising conclusions.
