Dr. Fabienne Hariga, MPH

Dr Fabienne Hariga is a Medical doctor, specialised in Public Health and epidemiology, with experience in academic, non-governmental and international organizations, in Africa, in Asia and Europe.  She has more than ten years experience in programme development & evaluation, and in researches on HIV and other risks related to the use of drugs, mainly in prison settings. Since October 2006, as UNODC expert on HIV in prison based in Vienna HQ and as UNAIDS global focal point for HIV in prisons, she provides guidance to governments, to UNODC and UN HIV and health in prison programmes and policies. Previously she was the director of Modus Vivendi, a HIV prevention and harm reduction NGO in Belgium and responsible for a Drug Monitoring and Research Centre. She was member of several Ministerial commissions: the Health Promotion consultative council of the Minister of Health, the ethical and scientific committee for HIV prevention, and the Health Commission of the Belgian Drug Policy Board.  She published several articles and reports on HIV and health risks among drug users and in prison settings.
