Ann Ginsberg, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Ginsberg is the Chief Medical Officer for the TB Alliance. Prior to joining the TB Alliance in June 2004, Dr. Ginsberg was Director for Project Management at Merck & Co., Inc. for two years. A highly regarded TB expert, Dr. Ginsberg brings 15 years of experience at the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Ginsberg began her NIH career in the National Cancer Institute as a Medical Staff Fellow and Resident in Anatomic Pathology. She subsequently joined the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases as a Senior Staff Fellow in the Laboratory of Cellular and Developmental Biology. In 1995 she joined NIAID as Program Officer for Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Other Mycobacterial Diseases and was appointed Chief of the Respiratory Diseases Branch in 2000.

Trained as a molecular biologist and Board Certified Anatomic Pathologist, Dr. Ginsberg holds a B.A. from Harvard University, an M.D. from Columbia University and a Ph.D. from Washington University. She is the author of numerous scientific publications and recipient of several prominent awards, including the Department of Health and Human Services Secretary's Award for Distinguished Service in 2000. She has served on multiple global health committees, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Aeras Global TB Vaccine Foundation.
