RESOURCES: for journalists covering the floods and rains
We have a lot of material that has been presented at our seminars over the years, as well as tipsheets on agencies developed by reporters attending our programs, all of it available at our website, www.nationalpress.org.
Best bet: once our site, click on the Resources tool bar, and then search for either "floods" or "water." Both of them will pull up a great deal of useful information. You may want to use other key words, as well -- we've been capturing this stuff for years.
Some of the material will have been presented at our programs. Some of the material will be informal profiles of the appropriate Washington agencies. These are written annually by local reporters in our annual Paul Miller Washington Reporting Fellowships. Each new fellow is asked to select an agency or department to profile, or to update an existing profile. In this way DC-based colleagues can smooth the way for journalists outside the area who need information in a hurry.
