Paid Internship Available: Online Marketing and Program Support
The National Press Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides free professional development programs to journalists to increase their knowledge of complex issues. NPF seeks a responsible, creative, and detail-oriented intern for the remainder of autumn semester and spring semester to work on online marketing, social media, website development and program implementation. Responsibilities include:
Online Marketing (80%)
- Help maintain NPF’s social media presence through Twitter and Facebook
- Take the lead in creating bi-weekly email newsletter
- Assist in developing marketing strategies for our journalist training programs including email list building, advertisements, and other outreach
- Assist Digital Media Manager with content creation and updates on our website, which may include basic research
- Help provide new ideas for NPF marketing and online presence and support their implementation
Program Support (20%)
- Support Programs Assistant with logistical planning for all journalist training programs which may include: communicating with program participants; updating and managing spreadsheets; working with travel or hospitality vendors; and producing printed program materials.
NPF is looking for a candidate with an interest and/or background in marketing, online media, and journalism. They should also have great attention to detail, initiative, time-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to gain quality, hands-on training and work experience and be an integral part of our small staff. The right candidate could be an upper-level undergraduate, graduate student, recent graduate or young professional looking to gain more experience.
The starting date is as soon as possible with a commitment through the end of spring semester. The intern should be available to work 12 – 15 hours per week between the hours of 9 am and 5:30 pm although the schedule can be flexible around classes and other commitments. A stipend will be provided and will be determined based on the work schedule established (typically $1000 per semester).
