The National Press Foundation seeks a responsible, organized and detail oriented intern for fall 2010 to help implement professional development programs for U.S. and international journalists. The intern will work directly with the NPF programs staff to plan and implement the logistics for journalist training programs here in DC as well as other U.S. and international locations. The topics of the training programs include cancer, Alzheimer’s, HIV vaccines and lung disease, as well as Capitol Hill Issues Briefings and DC reporting fellowships. The intern will also be involved in helping plan the 1,000+ guest annual awards dinner.

NPF is looking for an undergraduate student with an interest in non-profits, journalism, international affairs, and event planning, who is willing to take on varied projects. Knowledge of and experience with excel is essential. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to gain quality, hands on work experience beyond basic administrative duties and feel a part of a staff. Interns are welcome to attend any and all local NPF journalist training programs, which are great learning opportunities on specific topics. NPF is preliminarily looking for an intern for fall semester, however the possibility exists to extend the internship to spring and possibly summer semesters.

Available immediately. Hours worked per week is negotiable around a class schedule although 10-15 hours per week is preferred. All work will take place in NPF’s DC office (Farragut North, Dupont Circle area) except for a few journalist training programs throughout the city. A stipend will be provided and will be determined based on the work schedule established (typically $1000 per semester).
