Vatican Plans AIDS Conference, NYC Health Department Launches Free Condom App

Does the Pope really believe condoms can sometimes be morally justified?  The Vatican plans to clarify.  But the New York City Health Department certainly isn’t holding out for the Pope’s blessing.  The city launched a mobile app this week to help people find free condoms.

Douglas is an Online Editor and Multimedia Consultant for The National Press Foundation. 

He is a former producer at National Public Radio, where he helped launch the program Tell Me More with Michel Martin.  He started his career at NPR as a Kroc Fellow, a year-long training program focused on radio and multimedia storytelling.

The Indiana native moved to Oregon in the mid-1990's, where he obtained a B.A. in electronic media from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication.  Before pursuing a career in broadcast journalism, Douglas worked in the field of public health, focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention among GLBT youth in rural Oregon.

Douglas is currently a Senior Writer and Communications Specialist at the Harvard School of Public Health.
