A Message From The Helpdesk Hello fellow journalists, J2J fellows & colleagues. I'm Douglas Hopper, a producer at NPR, former J2J fellow and NPF consultant.  Welcome to my first Helpdesk blog post.  Before I go on, many thanks to Ruth Pollard, who has led the Helpdesk for two years.  Ruth has established the site as a reliable resource, a staple for all of us out there traversing the complex world of HIV/AIDS storytelling.  Thanks Ruth, you've done great work.  I'm looking forward to 'taking the reins' and building on what you've created. Douglas is an Online Editor and Multimedia Consultant for The National Press Foundation. 

He is a former producer at National Public Radio, where he helped launch the program Tell Me More with Michel Martin.  He started his career at NPR as a Kroc Fellow, a year-long training program focused on radio and multimedia storytelling.

The Indiana native moved to Oregon in the mid-1990's, where he obtained a B.A. in electronic media from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication.  Before pursuing a career in broadcast journalism, Douglas worked in the field of public health, focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention among GLBT youth in rural Oregon.

Douglas is currently a Senior Writer and Communications Specialist at the Harvard School of Public Health.
