William Selway, a Bloomberg News reporter, covers state and local government, municipal finance and politics from Washington D.C. He was a recipient of the Gerald Loeb Award in 2009 for a series of stories documenting how Wall Street convinced cities and school districts to enter into derivative trades that hit them with millions of dollars in costs during the financial collapse. Other stories have won awards from groups including the Investigative Reporters and Editors, the New York Press Club and the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. A graduate of the University of Arizona, he lives in Baltimore with his wife and two children.

Esmé E. Deprez is a state and local government reporter covering New York City metro and national breaking news, politics and policy at Bloomberg News and Bloomberg Businessweek. In 2012, she was named the Best New Journalist by the New York Newswomen’s Club for her stories on reproductive health policy and inequality and poverty. She joined Bloomberg News in 2009 from Businessweek, where she broke the story of Goldman Sachs’ access to swine flu vaccine when even pregnant women were empty handed. She has reported on midwest labor protests from the streets of Lansing and Madison, New York’s legalization of gay marriage from the Senate floor and reproductive health policy from statehouses and abortion clinics in Mississippi, Michigan, Oklahoma and elsewhere. Deprez is a Maine native and earned a M.S. from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a B.A. from Boston College.

Alison Vekshin writes about California politics for Bloomberg News in San Francisco, with a focus on the Bay Area. From 2006 to 2010, Vekshin covered banking regulation and the financial crisis for Bloomberg News in Washington, D.C. Vekshin covered the House Financial Services and Senate Banking committees in Congress, along with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Office of Thrift Supervision. Vekshin, who holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a master’s degree from Northwestern University, has covered banking policy, Congress and the economy from Washington, D.C. since 2000. Prior to joining Bloomberg in 2006, Vekshin worked for the Stephens Media Washington bureau where she covered the Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma congressional delegations, along with legislation affecting Arkansas-based companies Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Tyson Foods Inc. Vekshin also has worked for The Bond Buyer, where she covered the post-Sept. 11 recession, the economy, the Federal Reserve and economic indicators. She lives in San Francisco, California.
